Some children work incredibly hard just to keep up. *
Your child may appear mostly settled and capable throughout the day, yet they still struggle with challenges in specific areas of learning, concentration, confidence, development or integration. These challenges can show up as;
difficulty holding attention in school and at home
It takes them a great deal of energy to focus on the task at hand
Emotional regulation doesn’t come easily, and it takes them ages to calm down
Coordination issues, through clumsiness, constant knocks and bumps and very little spatial awareness.
Difficulty and/or a lack of joy in reading, and doesn’t remember what they just read
difficult and/or a lack of joy in writing, including messy handwriting, no spaces between words, and difficulty keeping their writing on a straight line.
Memory - your child can’t remember more than one instruction at a time or you have to remind them very often with very simple tasks. This can also be that your child has difficulty staying in the flow of a routine
processing - they often mishear you or completely miss the mark on the task
sustaining energy - they seem tired often or enter hyperactive mode multiple times throughout the day
Many of the behaviours we see in children — fidgeting, shutdowns, frustration, avoidance, emotional outbursts, fatigue, poor concentration, learning resistance, or difficulty retaining information — are not signs that a child is lazy, difficult, or incapable. There are signs that the child needs support that is better matched to where their brain and nervous system function is currently. Every child is different, which is why the process that your child engages with is extremely important for the result that you want for them.
As a Brain Gym Instructor and Professional Kinesiologist who works specifically with children and families, I find that most children fall into two main categories.
Starting with regulating the nervous system so that the brain follows — OR
Starting with integrating their brains so that the nervous system follows.
The question is not “What is wrong with this child?”
The question is “What support does this child need in order to learn, regulate, connect, and thrive more easily?”
Together, we find out which package is right for your Child.
Package 1: The Regulated Child Reset
In this package, we start with regulating your child’s nervous system so that brain integration can follow. Here, we focus on settling the emotionally reactive child who needs support with regulation. These children are carrying a lot of stress through their nervous system and often struggle to integrate other therapies or strategies.
This is the classic: “We are trying everything, and nothing seems to be working.”
This happens because they are stuck in fight-or-flight mode, and their brain is focused purely on survival. Learning may still be possible, but it comes at a cost — exhaustion, breakdowns, outbursts, and fatigue.
This toddler / child / teen generally regulates well emotionally, but are experiencing :
Difficulty with focus, concentration or attention ( becomes the kid that distracts everyone wiht big emotions or the class clown, often looses things )
Fidgeting or needing constant movement ( rocking on chair, unable to sit still )
Challenges with reading, writing or learning retention ( messy hand writing, doesn’t enjoy reading or writing )
Coordination or balance difficulties ( falls often, difficulty kicking ball etc )
Low confidence in learning ( can end up in tears when having to learn or complete a task, or simply will not try)
Fatigue, frustration or overwhelm with schoolwork ( unfinished homework etc)
Signs of retained primitive reflexes (fidgeting poor hand writing or fine motor skills, inability to sit still, sensory issues with clothing, history of toe walking, poor posture or struggles with balance and coordination)
Neurodivergent learning profiles or developmental differences
This Package supports a brain that’s unintegrated. Evaluating and supporting optimal brain and physical energy through nutrition and environment, as well as teaching you the Brain Gym movements or primitive reflex integration exercises that their body and brain specifically need to reach their goals. This is a fun program that requires easy to do at home, repetitive movement tailored to your childs brain development.
Package 2: The Connected Learner
In Package 2, we start with supporting your child’s brain integration so that learning can become more accessible, and the nervous system can follow. Here, we focus on the child who is emotionally steady and engaged, yet something isn’t fully integrating within their learning system. These children may struggle with focus, coordination, reading, writing, organisation, information processing, or consistency in academic tasks. This can also include children with ADHD or autism profiles, where learning differences impact how information is received, held, or expressed.
We focus on your child’s brain-body integration and targeted learning support using specific movement-based and developmental strategies to strengthen communication within the system, improve access to learning, and build confidence in their abilities.
This is the classic: “They are trying, but something just isn’t clicking.”
These children are capable and intelligent, but their brains and body are not communicating with ease. Learning is possible, but it may come with frustration, inconsistency, overwhelm, low confidence & self esteem, or difficulty keeping up with the demands of everyday learning.
They could be a toddler, child or teen experiencing:Anxiety or separation anxiety when away from a parent
Big emotions, tantrums or meltdowns during school, after school or with general household tasks. Eg, putting their shoes on.
Difficulty calming down when upset and taking a long time to break the fixation on the issue
Sleep challenges such as difficulty staying asleep, sleep walking, night terrors or issues with falling asleep.
School stress & overwhelm from minor tasks or social situations
Sensory sensitivities to environments, noises, and overly sensitive to touch.
Emotional shutdown or avoidance, self-esteem is beginning to be affected. They may start to notice that they are different to their peers.
Difficulty expressing needs or feelings, so instead resort to physical outbursts or screaming.
Rather than focusing purely on behaviour, this package supports the nervous system at the root level, helping your child feel safer, calmer and more regulated in their body. As we focus on the deep nervous system, emotional support, your child will begin to regulate more easily and come back to a state of learning & connection so that their resisilance, communication and daily participation can delvelop naturally.
